Dublins best outdoor walking Tour

Providing bespoke Guided tours of the Northeast Inner city area of Dublin telling the social history of the area of Ballybough, Fairview and Marino ‘In the shadow of Croke Park’.

All tours are provided by your local guide Sean who was born and reared locally in Croke Villas a street literally “in the shadow of Croke Park”.

Sean also works as a tour guide for Dublin City Council Culture Company in 14 Henrietta Street, Dublins Tenement museum one of Dublins favourite tourist attractions.

Our walking tour takes place on Saturday Mornings at 11 am from March through to end of September private tours for groups etc. can be arranged for other days and times to suit, always meeting at the Croke Park Hotel on Jones Road beside the GAA stadium.

The walking tour lasts around 2 hours each and you will hear stories and visit various sites on the tour.

Including:

The National Famine Way scene of a forced emigration during the Irish Famine ‘An Gorta Mor’,

Fr. Matthew Park where the 2nd Battalion of the Irish Volunteers trained and drilled in the build up to the Easter Rising of 1916 in Dublin,

The Jewish Cemetery in Ballybough (the first Jewish cemetery in Ireland)

The unconsecrated burial site at the crossroads of Clonliffe Road where Bram Stoker of ‘Dracula’ fame got his idea to place a stake through the heart to kill the spirit of his victims.

Mud Island with its Pirates and Smugglers.

‘Don Patricio’ the first Irishman to captain Manchester United

The Howth Guns and Luke Kelly.

You will also hear many local stories of the social history of the area including local execution by Hanging, Bloody Sunday during the War of Independence a day when 32 people lost their lives and much more.
